CESEP is a non governmental organization established on 15 Jan 1997, to assist the Ministry of Environment, within the frame of the Environmental Program for Central and Eastern Europe, and supported by Harvard University and USAID.

Providing the government with a source of modern, empirically rigorous environmentally attuned environmental and economic policy research and analysis on which to base their decision-making.

The CESEP’s legislative and regulatory emphasis stresses harmonization with EU Directives and implementing international agreements.
Its focus is sustainable development, stressing local level involvement, democratic and accountable institutions and strong economic growth.
CESEP represents the NGO’s voice in the River Basin Committee, for a large river basin in Romania: Arges – Vedea River Basin, (4 counties) where CESEP is member since 2005.

CESEP is actively involved in the yearly celebration of the Danube Day. A Certificate of Appreciation has been received in 2008.

CESEP has been serving as a policy-research centre contributing towards the national development policies and strategies.

The Center’s activities are basically confined to research, consultancy and training programmes.
All activities carried out by the CESEP have been undertaken in close cooperation with the central environmental authorities in Romania.

Assisting the policy makers in formulating and implementing development policies, plans, programmes.
Supporting government economic decision-making by carrying out studies applying modern economic analysis (especially in natural resource management).

Undertaking projects in the field of environment and water management, financing strategies for water related infrastructures, water pricing, river basin management, pollution reduction, policy development and assessment, public participation and involvement, communications and ecological awareness campaigns, etc.

Training specialists (functioning of river basin committees, communication strategy, IPPC certificate etc)

Organizing ecological awareness campaigns and coordinating specific environmental projects for dissemination of lessons learned and environmental practices.
